# Customer interview

FICTIONAL WORKSHOP SOURCE. This is an invented interview with Mara, a compliance manager at an invented multi-site manufacturer. It isn't customer research from Enhesa.

## Role and work

Interviewer: What does your team need to do each month?

Mara: I manage compliance reporting across six manufacturing sites in three jurisdictions. Two analysts help me read the changes and work out which sites need attention. I report to our operations director. Site managers want a short account of what affects them; the director wants to know what needs a decision. 

Interviewer: Where does the work get difficult?

Mara: The information arrives in pieces. We copy items into a spreadsheet, check their relevance and put together a summary. I need to show where an item came from and say what we know. I don't want a confident explanation that hides uncertainty.

## Buying needs and concerns

Interviewer: What would make a reporting module useful?

Mara: Something I can forward to the right people without buying a licence for every reader. A site manager should see the position for their site. PDF would work for our director and CSV would help my analysts. Keeping the source behind a statement matters when somebody challenges it later.

Interviewer: What would stop you trying it?

Mara: A long setup. We had a previous rollout that consumed weeks of our analyst's time before producing anything useful. Our IT and procurement reviews still need to happen, whatever the sales presentation says. I can't promise a buying date today. I'd want to test a sample report and know the access arrangements first.

## Requested capabilities

Interviewer: Anything else on your wish list?

Mara: I'd like a report every Monday morning. I'd also like it to come to me for approval before it goes to the director. Could your system do those two things? They're requests, not things I've seen demonstrated. If it can't, tell me clearly so I can decide whether the current version still helps us.

## What this interview establishes

Mara is one fictional interviewee. Her comments illustrate reporting, sharing and setup concerns; they don't establish how common those concerns are across the market. No budget, purchase commitment or delivery promise was made. Her request for weekly scheduling and approval routing needs checking against the product briefing. It mustn't be copied into the capability list.
